Become a Reading Hack or Gadgeteer this summer at your local Aura library

The Summer Reading Challenge 2022 has arrived! This summer, children aged 4-11 can visit their local Aura library to meet the Gadgeteers and to get involved in a science and innovation themed Summer Reading Challenge.

Through taking part in the Challenge, with free materials from Aura Libraries and online via the Challenge website, children will be able to join six fictional Gadgeteers. The characters – brought to life by children’s writer and illustrator Julian Beresford – use their curiosity and wonder to understand the science behind a whole range of interests, from fashion and technology to cooking and music.

Library Manager, Susannah Hill, shared her excitement on behalf of the whole Aura team, saying: “We can’t wait to welcome Flintshire children into our libraries this summer to become Gadgeteers! We have so many exciting activities for them to take part in and lots of fantastic new books for them to read for the challenge. Visit your nearest library to sign up!

Through an exciting book collection and accompanying activities, the Gadgeteers will help to spark children’s curiosity about the world around them, and encourage them to feed their imagination over the summer holiday. They will be boggled by brilliant facts, gaze at the stars, and be inspired by tales of creativity and invention. With plenty of great options across picture books, early readers and middle grade books, there’s lots to keep children busy!

Join Aura Libraries for a summer of science, reading, creativity and fun! Watch this space for extra special Summer Reading Challenge events with Xplore Science Wrexham, authors Karen McCombie and Ben Davis, plus mad science workshops and Lego clubs. Come and join the fun and be a Gadgeteer with Aura Libraries!
