Aura Leisure and Libraries Ltd

More People, More Active Minds and Bodies, More Often

On 24 September 2019, Aura was named Social Enterprise of the Year 2019 at the Social Business Wales Awards Ceremony held in Llandudno.  Prior to receiving this headline award, Aura was also named the Winner of the ‘Consumer Facing Social Enterprise’ category.

We are now looking for talented and experienced individuals to join our dynamic and award-winning company.

  • Do you have entrepreneurial flair?
  • Are you an experienced high calibre professional with a commercial outlook?
  • Do you care about social values and can give back your expertise to our local communities?
  • Can you help steer our future Leisure, Library & Heritage services with your passion and energy?
  • Do you want to be part of an aspirational and innovative employee-owned organisation?
  • Are you looking to extend existing or gain new Board experience?

YES? – This is a fantastic opportunity to support your local community and we want to hear from you!

Aura is a charitable, not-for-profit, organisation which, from 1 September 2017, has been responsible for managing the majority of leisure centres and libraries previously operated by Flintshire County Council.  This is one of the first of its kind in the UK; we aspire to be sector-leading in the future.

Governance of Aura is provided by the Non-Executive Board, made up of local professionals who have committed to volunteer their time as they are passionate about sustaining and improving local leisure centres, libraries and heritage services.

Aura has an extensive portfolio including leisure centres, library and information services, museums, play areas, sports development, exercise referral, health and fitness, swimming, ice rink, school activities and holiday clubs, club activities and training and development.

We welcome expressions of interest and applications from individuals with strategic and clear thinking skills, the ambition and dedication to drive Aura forward, an understanding and ability to evaluate both social and commercial issues, and an ability to innovate and contribute effectively as part of a team.

We are looking to complement the current Board’s skill set and are particularly interested in receiving applications from individuals with current/previous Board experience and with expertise in:

  • Governance
  • Health
  • IT
  • Legal
  • Marketing
  • Social Business

Our Board positions are voluntary with appropriate expenses.
