WHAT IS THE 60+ ACTIVE LEISURE SCHEME?
The 60+ Active Leisure Scheme has been introduced across Wales to encourage physical activity and healthy lifestyle choices and to reduce health inequalities and social isolation for the 60+ years age group.
Aura Wales has a dedicated 60+ Active Leisure Officer who is responsible for managing the scheme in Flintshire and for developing and delivering a range of activities across Aura’s leisure centres.
The scheme is funded by Sport Wales which has invested more than £1 million nationally with the aim of supporting the 60+ years population in Wales to live longer, better and happier lives by improving physical activity levels, confidence, strength and balance.
The criteria are simple and straightforward. You must be:
- Registered with Aura Wales*
- 60 years of age or over
- A Flintshire resident
*Some activities delivered by external partners may not require you to be registered with Aura Wales.
It is FREE to register with Aura Wales. Once registered, you will receive an Aura Leisure Card which enables you to access our leisure centre activities.

60+ activities are currently discounted and range from £2.00 to £6.00 per session.
We also offer a direct debit membership (no tie in contract) at £23.00 per month.

A great way to socialise without the exercise; come down and enjoy a tea or coffee and a chat with other like-minded people and see if you can win the weekly quiz.
THE HUB - LOW LEVEL GYM CLASS
Hub classes improve coordination, balance and body awareness to avoid unnecessary injury. Hub focuses on movement patterns that have a purpose, thereby improving the body’s ability to work efficiently as one unit. Hub aims to make everyday activities easier to perform by helping you gain strength and confidence.

Sporting Memories sessions are aimed at people aged 50 years or over and are designed to get conversation flowing, help relive positive memories and provide joy and companionship. At Sporting Memories Clubs, everyone finds fun, friendship and a heightened sense of wellbeing.
TAI CHI
Tai Chi is a practice that involves a series of slow gentle movements and physical postures, a meditative state of mind, and controlled breathing. It is more focused on health promotion and rehabilitation. Tai Chi is a state of mental, physical and spiritual balance; a state of wellbeing in yourself.
WALK AND TALK
Get outdoors, explore and embrace all that Flintshire has to offer. We recommend wearing comfortable sturdy footwear and bringing light waterproofs should the weather change unexpectedly. These walks vary and we cater for all levels.
WALKING FOOTBALL
Ever wanted to learn the basics of football and become fitter? Walking football is aimed at keeping people involved if, due to a lack of mobility or other reasons, they are not able to play the traditional game. The sport can be played both indoors and outdoors.
WELLBEING GROUP CIRCUIT
A structured full body exercise class, targeting strength and endurance whilst reducing impact. Suitable for all abilities, the class is closely monitored to ensure safety with clear demonstrations of exercises throughout.
