Beauty Therapy Practitioner Gold Award for Afon Spa’s Bella Bailey

We are delighted to share some fantastic news!

Bella Bailey, one of our wonderful beauty therapists at Afon Spa, recently competed and won a prestigious competition at the WorldSkills UK National finals. Bella has brought back the Gold Medal after winning in the Beauty Therapy Practitioner category.

The regional finals took place in Altrincham and the National finals were in Blackpool.

Bella explained: “For the competition I had to perform a range of treatments including, makeup, massage, nail treatments and a presentation on the day of the finals. The tasks also included surprise modifications: changing models, for example. This is something that my role at Afon Spa really helped me with as it has given me lots of practical thinking skills and taught me to stay calm if something unexpected happens!

I was definitely nervous in the lead up to the competition but as soon as it began I really loved it. I love performing under pressure so it was a great environment for me. I really put my all into training in the run up to the competition so this helped me feel very prepared and confident on the day.

Bella also added: “I have worked in the beauty industry for over 4 years now. I am lucky to have found my true passion in beauty therapy from a very young age. I am so grateful that my team at Afon Spa has been so supportive throughout my competition experience.

I feel grateful to work with such a talented and experienced team who have passed on so much knowledge to me. They were some of the first people I told about my results and they were just as excited as I was!”
