Aura Sports Development’s 0-7 Multisport Programme
Since September 2021, Aura Sport Development’s 0-7 multisport programme has delivered over 200 sessions across Flintshire, with 134 children in attendance enjoying either 0-3 Parent and Toddler sessions or 4-7 Multisport sessions.
We strive to deliver inclusive sessions and have been delighted to receive positive feedback from parents, with one commenting: “Sometimes [my child] does not want to join in with activities in a large group due to social/communication delays. The team will ensure that he is still involved and it is so lovely to see them taking a person centred approach.”
Bethan Conway, School and Community Sport Coordinator, expressed her enthusiasm on behalf of herself and colleague Emma Birks, saying: “This year we have seen children learn to walk and jump, interact with others, show confidence in trying new things, and begin to become physically literate. It has also been a privilege to work closely with colleagues from Aura Libraries on this programme. The partnership works really well, and incorporating a story time session has enhanced the experience. Many parents have signed their children up to be library members, which is fantastic.
We were also excited to work with partners like the NHS, Flying Start and Homestart to offer 2 blocks of funded sessions to support local communities. It is great to be back working on the Fit, Fed and Read programme this summer, letting the local community know that we are here for them, and we look forward to starting our 0-7 sessions again in September.”
The Aura Sports Development team will be delivering 0-7 sessions again from September 2022 onward at Mold Library, Jade Jones Pavilion Flint, Deeside Leisure Centre, Buckley Leisure Centre and Holywell Leisure Centre. For more information please visit the Aura 0-7 Multisport Facebook page here.
