Additional Support Sessions for Children Aged 4+ at Aura Swimming Pools
The Aura Swim team is delighted to be offering Additional Support sessions at our swimming pools in Mold and Flint.
These sessions, aimed at children aged 4 years and over, are smaller in size and offer additional support in the water from a parent or guardian. This enables our friendly, qualified and supportive instructors to focus on each participant’s individual needs.
Aura Swim Instructor, Kayle Ford, added: “Our Additional Support sessions provide flexibility within the lesson structure. This also allows for a balance between focused development in each child’s swimming strokes whilst also building water confidence through play. We adapt the lessons to the individual’s needs by tailoring the session for swimmers who experience noise sensitivity or who are easily distracted. One of the main benefits that we have noticed outside of the water is seeing parents having the opportunity to speak with other parents in similar situations.”
Parent Rhiannon Whittaker has seen a positive improvement in her child’s swimming as a result of the Additional Support sessions, saying: “The sensory play session has been the perfect solution for my 5 year old daughter with ASD traits. She lost her confidence a year ago and these sessions have been excellent. The instructors are calm but still find fun activities to encourage her to explore the pool. She has even started showing some kicking again!”
It is our hope that these inclusive sessions will support all children to participate in and enjoy swimming lessons, allowing them to practice and progress at their own pace.
