From 10-14 February 2020, Aura Libraries were delighted to take part in the Big Welsh Rhyme Time, along with many other libraries across Wales.

The Big Welsh Rhyme Time is an annual celebration of songs and rhymes for children aged 0-5 across Wales, organised by Book Trust Cymru. Its aim is to encourage children to share rhymes and songs in Welsh and English, helping them to develop speaking, listening and language skills before, or whilst, they learn to read – plus it’s a great way to have fun!

Aura Libraries took part in the celebration by hosting extra special Rhyme Time sessions across our 7 libraries in Flintshire. We were delighted to see lots of familiar faces attend the sessions as well as some new faces, too!

Library Service Manager, Susannah Hill, shared her enthusiasm about Aura’s participation in the Big Welsh Rhyme Time, saying: “What a wonderful week! The Big Welsh Rhyme Time is a great initiative by Book Trust Cymru, celebrating how special it is to share rhymes with babies and young children. It’s also great fun as you can see from all the fantastic photos!

We have enjoyed taking part again this year and have used it as an opportunity to share our rich heritage of Welsh language rhymes with local families. All our libraries have weekly Rhyme Times, so if you have young ones or grandchildren why not pop along and join in with us!”

Aura Libraries would like to thank everyone who came along to celebrate the Big Welsh Rhyme Time with us. For more information regarding Aura Library Events including Rhyme Time, click here.
