On Friday 7th June, the Mold Dementia Friendly Steering Group held their annual awards at Mold Library to recognise local businesses and organisations who are ‘Working towards becoming dementia friendly’.
As an organisation, Aura Leisure and Libraries is committed to becoming Dementia Friendly and were thrilled to host the awards at one of our libraries.
Aura have been working together with the Alzheimer’s Society and were delighted to be awarded ‘Working Towards Becoming Dementia Friendly’ status.
At the awards, Mold Library and Mold Leisure Centre both received accreditation for the second year running: an excellent achievement for us as we move one step closer to becoming a Dementia Friendly organisation. Both sites work closely with the steering group and the pledges for this year include: hosting Dementia Friends Awareness Sessions at both sites, and the introduction of a Dementia Friendly Swim Session at the leisure centre.
Library manager, Susannah Hill, expressed her enthusiasm, saying: “we work closely with the local community Dementia Friendly Steering Groups, enabling us to increase our knowledge of our residents and their needs, so that we can work in partnership to raise awareness and promote inclusion. We feel passionately about supporting those within our community who are in anyway affected by Dementia.”
We would like to thank the Mold Dementia Friendly Steering Group for their support and look forward to working with them further as we move closer to becoming a Dementia Friendly organisation.
